Bring your own server

Built for the server you already run.

NaviFin speaks the Jellyfin API. Point it at your server, sign in, and your whole library is there: movies, TV, music, Live TV, photos, and books. NaviFin connects only to the server you choose.

Self-hosted, on a Raspberry Pi, NAS, VPS, or anywhere else. Your library never leaves the box you put it on. New to Jellyfin? Start at jellyfin.org. NaviFin is an independent client, not affiliated with the Jellyfin project.

What you get

Four things that make NaviFin feel native.

01 / Plays anything

Hybrid engine. AVPlayer + VLC.

Apple's AVPlayer handles efficient native playback. A bundled VLC engine takes over for exotic formats: MKV, HEVC, surround sound, embedded and external subtitles. When one engine cannot handle a file, NaviFin falls back to the other.

It just plays.

02 / Self-hosted & private

Your Jellyfin. No cloud in between.

Zero analytics. Zero tracking. Zero hidden services. NaviFin talks only to the server you sign in to, and stores your credentials in the device Keychain. No accounts with us, ever.

Your server, your rules.

03 / Beautiful everywhere

Native SwiftUI, one design language.

Not an Electron shell. Not a web wrapper. Each app is tuned for its screen: focus on tvOS, a single glass window on macOS, touch and Picture in Picture on iOS and iPadOS.

04 / The full player

Subtitles, tracks, Skip Intro, Next Up.

Subtitle, audio track, and playback speed selection. Skip Intro and Skip Credits. Next Up auto-advance and trickplay scrubbing. SyncPlay to watch together, in sync, across devices.

No cloud. No account. No telemetry.

Your server. Your library. Your rules.

NaviFin is a client. Your media lives where it already does: a Raspberry Pi, a Synology, a home server under someone’s desk. We never see your library, your credentials, or a single play event. We couldn’t if we wanted to: the app has no backend. The only service NaviFin ever talks to is the one you sign in to: your own Jellyfin server. Credentials stay in the device Keychain.

About the maker

A one-person app, built about what I want to use.

NaviFin is built and maintained by Nenad Jokic, one person in Belgrade. No team behind a wall, no investors to please, no analytics dashboard somewhere telling me what you watched last night. The roadmap is shaped by what self-hosters actually ask for: reverse proxies, custom access headers, self-signed LAN servers, Tailscale, the things that came in through TestFlight and email. NaviFin is the video-first sibling of NaviBeat, my Navidrome music app, and they share the same design language.

If something is broken, you can write directly to me. I usually reply within a day.

FAQ

Questions you were going to ask anyway.

Yes. NaviFin is a client: it plays media from a Jellyfin server you run. Jellyfin is free, open source, and runs on anything from a Raspberry Pi to a NAS. jellyfin.org takes about 15 minutes with Docker. NaviFin is an independent client, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Jellyfin project.
Yes, that is the plan for launch: NaviFin ships as a Universal Purchase at $6.99. Buy once on any Apple device and it installs on the others (Apple TV, Mac, iPad, iPhone) at no extra cost. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no ads. During the beta everything is free on TestFlight.
Almost anything. NaviFin uses a hybrid engine: Apple’s AVPlayer for efficient native playback, and a bundled VLC engine for exotic formats like MKV, HEVC, surround audio, and embedded or external subtitles. When one engine cannot handle a file, NaviFin falls back to the other so playback just works.
Yes, on iPhone and iPad. Download movies and episodes for the plane, the train, or anywhere without a connection. Watch state syncs back to your Jellyfin server when you reconnect, so resume points stay correct on every device.
Not yet. NaviFin is in open beta on TestFlight today, free to try on Apple TV, Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and it is heading to the App Store as a one-time Universal Purchase. Join the beta and your feedback shapes the first release.
All three play Jellyfin libraries, with different trade-offs. Swiftfin is the free community client. Infuse is a polished multi-source player sold as a subscription (or a higher one-time price). NaviFin is Jellyfin-only by design, built natively in SwiftUI for each Apple screen, with a hybrid AVPlayer + VLC engine, automatic subtitle download, Live TV with EPG, SyncPlay, offline downloads, and zero analytics, planned as a single one-time $6.99 Universal Purchase.
Once NaviFin is on the App Store, Apple handles refunds directly: their standard window is 90 days, no questions asked, through reportaproblem.apple.com. During the beta there is nothing to refund; TestFlight is free. If something doesn’t work, reach us at support@navifin.app.
